A Birthday Dinner at The Ivy

Some birthdays call for a big room and a loud band. The ones we host call for a table on a flower-filled patio, a pitcher of fresh roses, and a long lunch that drifts into dinner. The Ivy has been Los Angeles’s celebration table since 1980 — the white picket fence on Robertson Blvd where birthdays, premieres, and anniversaries have been toasted for more than four decades.

Book a table for two on the patio and let the umbrellas and string lights do the decorating, or gather your favorite people in one of our cozy rooms inside. The menu runs from classic American comfort to Italian favorites — the same home-style cooking The Hollywood Reporter once called “a taste of home-style American food” — and because our desserts come from our own bakery, LA Desserts, the birthday-cake moment takes care of itself.

Morning person? We open at 9:30am Tuesday through Sunday, and brunch runs weekdays until noon and weekends until 2pm — a birthday brunch on the patio, finished with something sweet, is a Los Angeles tradition of its own. Evening celebrations settle in until last reservations at 9pm most nights, 9:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
